IPv4/IPv6 subnet calculator | GestióIP IP address management software |
To calculate an IP address select the IP version, introduce an IP address, choose a bitmask/prefix length and click "calculate".
This subnet calculator includes a subnet planer which helps to map hierarchical subnet structures.
Example:
Your ISP assigned you the address
2001:DB8::/48
You infrastructure consists of
5 campuses
with up to
10 buildings
and up to
33 departments
After calculating the address there will be a list of possible level 1 subnets displayed (click "more" to expand the list).
In this example you need at least 5 "campus" networks. As a prefix length of /50 would brake down the original network in only 4 subnets, you have to choose at least a prefix length of /51 (8 subnets).
The campus networks must contain at least 10 "building"-networks.
The "building"-networks must contain at least 33 "department"-networks.
